HOW TO PLAN A SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT
If your preparing to pop the question to the love of your life here's a few things to consider.
1. Location, Location, Location!
Your location is as much of the story as you are. Choose a location that is meaningful to the both of you. It can be on the waterfront, a botanical garden, or the place you met and had your first date.
2. Choose the best time of day
Some places are busier than not and selecting the right time of day can have a huge outcome on your pictures. If your goal is to pop the question at a historical site like the Jefferson or Lincoln memorial you'll want to go before sunrise. Sunrise also makes for great lighting for your photographer to go with. On the flip side you can also choose a evening time like Geoffrey did. I worked on clearing out as many onlookers as I could prior to the magic moment.
3. Don't forget the photographer!
There's no greater way to share with friends and family the excitement of this event then to have a professional photographer document the moment. Although anyone can capture photos from a smart phone, the biggest reason you hire a photographer is for his or her ability to tell a story. Great photography is understanding how to plan and capture that emotion and convey through the medium.
4. Have fun!
My last tip is to have fun and enjoy the moment. Don't get too worked up - a surprise engagement lasts 10 seconds or else. Quick, right? So just enjoy the memories and history you are creating.
